Nate Oppel, a grade 8 student in Toronto, Canada is the lucky one to score the very first Connecting With My Future interview! Nate attends Horizon Arts Camp, a professional performing arts program, and will be attending his freshman year at one of Toronto’s top arts high schools in the fall. A budding actor, Nate will be interviewing James Retter Duncan, one of the stars of War Horse, playing at The Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto.

War Horse is an international award winning play that has hit the London, Broadway and now Toronto stage. Based on a children’s book by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse is a family show that crosses all generations. Set during World War I, it is a simple tale about a love story between a boy and his horse. At its heart, are astonishing life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to life. With an all Canadian ensemble cast of 35, this beautifully told story is an exquisite example of theatrical magic at its finest.

Having seen the play myself, I know that Nate’s interview will be a real treat and one not to be missed. Stay tuned for Nate’s exclusive interview with James, one of the brilliant actors who plays the main horse, Joey!
